The Great Dilemma

It’s raining cats and dogs here where I live. Schools and Colleges have been ordered not to operate till further notice. Students who had their Mid Terms, are in a dilemma. Whether to rejoice, or feel remorse, for their exams have been postponed and their preparations have been wasted temporarily. The tuitions also remain cancelled for the coming 1-2 days along with schools.

People are enjoying these unexpected holidays. But they are worried about whether they should feel happy about it or feel bad because the next Festival ‘Navratri’ will be spoilt. On one hand they may wish that these rains should continue for some days and they will heave a sigh of relief from their hectic schedule, but on the other hand they will repent for their wish because their favourite festival wouldn’t be cherished by them.
People like me who are used to their hectic lives, are having a tough time in these unexpected holidays. I am in The Great Dilemma whether to enjoy the rains or study. I am refrained from enjoying the rains because I have my Mid Terms soon and I shouldn’t catch cold. I am unable to concentrate because the lovely weather hinders my concentration. As a result, I am getting bored. At this point, another dilemma surfaces. Should I, pray that my school reopens as soon as it can, or should I pray that it reopens as late as it can? If I wish that it reopens as soon as it can, I will again indulge into my hectic routine and then I would wish if I had a break from this. I may repent my prayer then. If I wish that it reopens as late as it can, the question still remains what should I do sitting at home when I am very much used to being outdoors and remain busy.

This dilemma reminds me of an old song. “Kya kare toh Na Kare yeh kaisi Mushkil Hai”.

People are enjoying the rains on one hand, while on the other some unfortunate people living in the low-lying areas have to Eat-Sleep-Work in ankle deep to knee deep waters which have gushed into their houses. We should feel sorry for their state and try and help them, but we are rejoicing these rains and waters. The rivers, dams, ponds have suddenly been the hottest tourist spots and people are clicking photos of themselves for the sake of uploading them of social media. While shooting a video which shows the tragic  fate of a truck which gets carried away off a check dam( or a large pothole which I cannot make out), was the person who was shooting it, facing the Dilemma as to "Should I film the trucks’ fate or warn the driver that he shouldn't go ahead on this route as it is unclear whether the route is safe or not." But, maybe due to reasons better known to the person, he films the ill fate of the truck and stands there helpless.

These unexpected rains have brought about different dilemmas at-least in my mind.
